About CMI Insurance Company Limited

CMI Insurance Company Limited (CMI) is the name of Scottish Widows' specialist offshore insurance company. Scottish Widows is one of the longest established providers in the UK and part of the Lloyds Banking Group, one of the largest financial services groups in Europe.

CMI was set up in 1987 and has more than 20 years offshore expertise. It was one of the first life assurance companies to set up an offshore operation in the Isle of Man. Over the last 20 years it has played a major influential role in shaping the Isle of Man finance industry and promoting best practice.

Our first product launch was a Luxembourg based CMI Managed Portfolio Investment Fund, which quickly became the largest offshore fund at the time, raising an unprecedented £25 million. Since then there have been numerous product launches and our current range can be found here.

CMI is one of the largest employers in the Isle of Man finance sector employing over 150 people. We are proud of our heritage and experience in the specialist offshore market and this is reflected in the length of service of our staff, many of whom have been with us for 10-15 years and have specialist investment qualifications.
