About the Isle of Man
The Isle of Man is a long established and respected international finance centre
and has independent regulators separate to the UK. It has introduced a number
of new investment and taxation vehicles intended to enhance the island’s current
standing as one of the leading offshore jurisdictions.
The Isle of Man is not part of the UK but a self-governing dependent territory of
the British Crown. The island is therefore able to determine its own levels of taxation
independently from the UK. For example, there is no capital gains tax in the Isle
of Man, which means that investments can enjoy tax-free growth whilst they are held
offshore in the Isle of Man.
The Isle of Man has also been awarded the Best International Financial Services
Centre at the International Investment Fund and Products Awards 2006. The Isle of
Man has won this award several years in a row, demonstrating its longer-term ability
to be at the forefront of change and innovation among international financial services
centres.
