In the community
We believe that organisations have a social responsibility within the communities where they operate. CMI Insurance Company Limited takes this responsibility very seriously and actively supports events and initiatives which benefit the local Isle of Man population.
Our support is wide ranging, reflecting the needs and interests of society at large, and we use broad categories to encompass them.
Clerical Medical has sponsored the Parish Walk since 1990 and has committed to do so until 2009. The Parish Walk, which takes place every June, is an 85-mile walking race through all 17 parishes of the Isle of Man. About 1,500 people start the race, but typically only 10% manage to complete the course in the time limit of 24 hours. Under our patronage it has become the largest community event on the island and in recent years its popularity has started to attract international racers.
For the past 10 years we have supported local artists by sponsoring the Christmas exhibition at the Courtyard Gallery in the Isle of Man. By funding the cost of staging the exhibition, artists are able to keep more of the proceeds from the sale of their work.
We have funded or given support to various projects in the Isle of Man in recent years. Here are a few examples:
- A sensory garden at Corrin Court for the visually impaired
- Benches at the Wildlife Park
- A bat enclosure and a quiet garden at the Wildlife Park
- Book buddies - a reading programme in schools
In addition, each year we support two Isle of Man based charities nominated by our staff, who organise events and dress down days in order to raise funds.
