Five questions to ask a financial adviser
It can be helpful to prepare a list of questions before you see your financial adviser
to make sure you cover everything you want to during your meeting. Here are five
questions to help get you started:
- Check the return on the investment and the length of time you have to invest it
for.
- Ask to see the key features document for each product the adviser recommends. It’s
a useful document to have as it summarises the key features of the product. It is
a regulatory requirement that all financial service companies have to produce these
documents.
- Ask to see the adviser’s commission fees/charges.
- Ask them what type of adviser they are: are they a single-tied adviser, multi-tied
adviser or an independent financial adviser?
- Don’t be afraid to ask for more time to consider all the options in more detail.
The adviser will be more than happy to arrange a follow up meeting.
